The Sinner: Season 2 – Storyline:
Detective Harry Ambrose returns to his hometown in rural ny to assess an unsettling and heart-wrenching crime — parents murdered by their 11-year-old son with no apparent motive. As Ambrose realizes there’s nothing ordinary about the boy or where he came from, the investigation pulls him into the hidden darkness of his hometown. He’s pitted against those that will stop at nothing to guard its secrets — and therefore the mysterious Vera, who proves to be a sophisticated , enigmatic piece to the present haunting puzzle.
The Sinner: Season 2 – Review :
I loved the primary season of the Sinner, so naturally, once I saw that season 2 was being realised, i used to be both excited and apprehensive. I won’t explain the plot because it would be hard to not give anything away and that i want to stay this review spoiler free.
Season 2 stands completely on its own, the sole thing linking the 2 seasons is that the main detective (Harry Ambrose, played by Bill Pullman). I binge watched all 8 episodes in 1 day and overall I found it to be a really gripping season.
Positives: 1) it’s shot beautifully. The cinematography is gorgeous with well-crafted scenes. 2) The acting is solid from just about everybody. Bill Pullman and Carrie Coon are particular standouts. 3) The story is intriguing, and therefore the pacing is extremely good, meaning that after every episode you only need to watch another. The 8 episodes flew by.
Negative: 1) The last few episodes got a touch ‘too much’. there have been a couple of too many twists for my liking, with a few of them leaving me with the ‘really?’ feeling. a number of the twists took it from being a very realistic drama to the purpose of being a touch too unbelievable.
