Cinderella (2021) – Storyline/Plot:

A modern movie musical with a bold take on the classic fairy tale. Our ambitious heroine has big dreams and with the help of her fab Godmother, she perseveres to make them come true.

Ella is an ambitious young woman who wants to establish her shop “Dresses by Ella” one day in her patriarchal society. She catches the eye of the Prince in the guard changing ceremony, who finds her the next day in the market (where he is dressed as a commoner) trying to sell her dress and buys it from her. He later invites her to the ball being held two weeks later, with the premise of introducing her to various people from the world to sell her dresses to.

When the day arrives, she wears a pink dress on which her stepmother throws ink and asks her not to come to the ball as she has already promised her to Thomas (who fancies Ella). When Ella is sad, from the cocoon she saved earlier, her Fabulous Godmother comes and dresses her in a design of Ella’s, with glass shoes and by turning mice into footmen and crate into a carriage. Ella goes to the ball and finds a Queen, who offers to take her around the world as a dressmaker for her and asks to meet her the next day at 4:00 in the market square. Later the Prince finds Ella, shows his sister wearing the gown he bought form Ella previously and proposes to Ella, which she refuses to start her career. At the strike of midnight she leaves the hall after throwing her shoe at one of the kings attendings, who tries to catch her.

I was looking forward to the release of this actually, I’m a big fan of camila cabello and idina menzel, and although cinderella has been done many many times already, I like to see new interesting takes to classic stories and i could never get enough of them to be honest, and this one had original music yay!! All of that being said, I was very disappointed by this one. Besides some good actors, (james corden ugh) and a great introductory performance by Cabello, this movie just fell completely flat in my opinion. I didn’t like the songs, the vibe (billy’s fairy godmother oh god) or anything really besides some of the actors. Overall, very forgettable and nothing unique or special at all.
